Exercise physiologist Dr. Ken Hutchins developed the FITT principle in the 1980s to help people structure their workouts more effectively. FITT is an acronym that stands for frequency, intensity, time, and type. These variables can be used independently or in combination to control the amount of stress placed on the body during exercise and stimulate adaptation. Take the exercise "Tricep Kick backs" Frequency is M, W, F. Intensity is how much weight you will use, If just starting out- use just a small 8 oz water bottle- others may be up to 10lbs-15 lbs each arm.
